Verdict

I was asked to review a band called “Typheous” and their 3 demo songs from their MySpace page. Knowing very little of the band I decided to check them out at their MySpace page. Typheous are a Metal/Death Metal band from Southampton and have been together for 7 Months, and in the 7 Month period have recorded twice with 2 sets of new songs, headlined 2 out of 5 gigs. So I thought I would check out this new band. The 3 songs that are currently on their MySpace Page are “Grimnir” “Shadow Stalker”, and Nightmares. So then on with the review.

First track Grimnir starts off with an eerie/Cradle Of Filth style keyboards then erupts into heavy riffs and heavy death metal growls by lead singer Steve. Normally I don’t usually buy a lot of Death Metal music I have in my collection the like of In Flames and Opeth which are very melodic, but there is something that sounds very good with this band the breakdown of this track and the awesome drum and keyboard work adds a unique feel to the bands music. Yes they sound to me death metal, gothic and melodic, the Guitar work from the band is exceptional.

The next track “Shadow Stalker” starts of with a fantastic riff, which resembles something out of the Metallica riff book excellent stuff. Constantly through the track the music is spot on melodic and balls out metal. And the guitar solo is fantastic spine chilling.

The last track “Nightmares” starts of with a In Flames type riff, which isn’t a bad thing indeed. Vocals, Guitars, Bass, Keyboards and drums are working overtime in this track and the vocals are down right gritty and heavy and a nice solo to boot excellent stuff indeed.

Overall then this band has won me over from the start to the finish of this demo I have high hopes for this band. But as always with a new band you have to work your socks off and I believe this band will do just that. Highly Recommended!!!!
