Verdict

I was sent a email a couple of weeks ago by a drummer called “Wouter Tolenaars” from a band called “Polydrone”. The band are a new Dutch Metal band and they have kindly gave me a 3 track demo which has been available online since June. The band consists of Wouter Tolenaars (drums), Niels van Dam (guitars) and Jeffrey de Blieck (vocals). The band are currently looking for an additional guitarist and bass player to complete the band.

After a few sessions together they recorded their debut demo “Retrolution" According to the press pack this Dutch band play metal in every aspect they can and Let you bang your head to their no-nonsense songs and performance. Can this 3-track demo deliver? On with the review.

The First track “Free Transformation” starts off with a distorted electro sound something you would find out of a Space Invaders game then all hell breaks loose with crushing pounding riffs and a heavy bass line followed by pounding drums. Vocal wise Jeffrey de Blieck provides a mixture of clean and roaring death vocals, yes the music is certainly metal but has a great melodic and Opeth type feel when the break down comes into play great stuff.

The second track “Manipulator” Starts off very quite then erupts into a stomping headbanging session with vocals going towards more a Opeth direction the band for do remind me of influences from Opeth and In Flames of old. This is brutal stuff with the band firing on all cylinders this track does not let up. This track reminds me of my last days of earth namely Armageddon!!!

The last track on the demo “Awakening” starts off with a Metallica Kill Em All riff then breaks into a wall of thrash, Clean and death vocals are present in this track followed by very fast drumming and great fast ear splitting riffs. The track Is class

Overall then this great little new Dutch band seem to be ok, with a great demo to start their music career off I have high hopes for this band. The band requires an additional guitar and bass player but with hard work they should be able to achieve this. You should check this demo out (See Links Below) Highly Recommended!!!
