Evanescence are recording their third album, with producer Steve Lillywhite. As yet untitled, it's said to have a strong electro influence, and is due out in the Autumn.

NWOBHM heroes Witchfynde celebrate the 30th anniversary of their debut album 'Give 'Em Hell' with a string of shows. The band also play the Roadburn Festival in Tilburg, Holland on April 16, at the request of Thomas Gabriel Fischer who is curating his own stage, 'Only Death Is Real'.

Drummer Marc Reign has left veteran German thrashers Destruction. This is said to be due to 'personal and musical differences'. The band will bring in a temporary replacement for current touring commitments.

LAW OUT
Marshall Law are off the bill for Hammerfest II. This is because drummer Steve Hauxwell fractured his wrist in a snowboarding accident in Belgium.

SLAM DUNK NEWS
More names have been added for this years Slam Dunk Festival they are: Alkaline Trio, Against Me, Rolo Tomassi, We are the Ocean, Skindred, My Passion, The Wonder Years, Hit the Lights and The Audition. The event takes place on may 29 at the University Of Hertfordshire and the following day at Leeds University.

SLASH TOURING BAND
Slash has confirmed his touring band this will include ocalist Myles Kennedy are rhythm guitarist Bobby Schneck (Weezer,Green Day), bassist Dave Henning (Doug Pinnick) and drummer Brent Fitz (Alice Cooper, Vince Ne il).

TURISAS IN THE STUDIO
Turisas have just started recording their new album. This should be released later in the year by Century Media.

More bands have been confirmed for this years Sweden Rock. The bands are Cinderella, Michael Monroe, Grave Digger, F.K.U., Sator, Steelwing and Dundertaget. Sweden Rock happens in Solvesborg from June 9-12.

The Spirtual Beggars are in the studio, working on a new studio their first in 5 years. The album should be released later in 2010.

BLEEDING THROUGH TOUR DRUMMER

Deftones have named their new album as ‘Diamond Eyes’ and will be released on May 18.

SOILWORK ALBUM
Soilwork have named their new album as ‘The Panic Broadcast’ and will be released via Nuclear Blast on June 25.

GRAND MAGNUS ALBUM
Grand Magnus have just finished recording their new album. The album is called ‘Hammer Of The North’ and will be released through Roadrunner in the summer.

CONSPIRACY STUDIO
The Cavalera Conspiracy, featuring Max and Iggor Cavalera, are to start recording a new album in April. This should be released later in the year by Roadrunner.

ANATHEMA DATE
Anathema will play a show at the Islington O2 Academy in London on May 21.

MAIDEN FINISH ALBUM
Iron Maiden have finished work on their next new album. At the moment I have no new of a release date. The album was recorded at Compass Point Studios in Nassau.

DOWN BASSIST STARTS NEW BAND
Down bassist Rex Brown has started a side project called Arms Of The Sun. The rest of the band includes Lance Harvill (vocals/guitar), Ben Bunker (guitar) and Luke Herbert (drums). The band have already recorded their debut album with producer Terry Date. The album will be released via Extreme Music, at the end of February.

SEPULTURA IN LONDON
Sepultura play London King's Cross Scala on July 4.

LAMB OF GOD NEW
Lamb Of God have a new track called ‘Hit The Wall’ featured on the video game 'Iron Man 2: The Videogame', which is due out in April.

KILLSWITCH LOSE SINGER
Killswitch Engage vocalist Howard Jones has left the bands current US tour, due to unforeseen circumstances. All That Remains frontman Phil Labonte will fill in for the time being.

BLOODBATH AT BLOODSTOCK
The latest band to be added to this years Bloodstock Festival are Bloodbath featuring members of Opeth and Katatonia. Bloodstock takes place on August 13-15 at Catton Hall in Derbyshire.

RED CHORD CHANGE DRUMMERS
The Red Chord have changed drummers, they hace parted company with Brad Fickeison and have replaced him with original drummer Mike Justian.

DIRTY LOOKS BASSIST KILLED
Dirty Looks bassist Gregory Pianka was stabbed to death in a bar brawl on February 5. Joseph Lumsden Jr. , has been charged with criminal homicide. I send my condolences to Pianka's family, friends and bandmates.

BLACK LABEL SOCIETY DRUMMER QUITS
Black label Society drummer Craig Nunenmacher has left the band. The band are now looking for a replacement.

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE FREE SHOW
Rage Against The Machine will be playing a free show at Finsbury Park in London on June 6.

BATHORY VINYL RE-ISSUES

Amorphis are to release their first DVD in June. Titled 'Forging The Land Of Thousand Lakes', it will be on the Nuclear Blast label. The DVD features a show filmed last November in Finland. There's to be a four-disc deluxe edition as well, with two DVD discs and two CDs.

Accept now fronted by Mark Tornillo, are to title their new album 'Blood Of The Nations'. This is being produced by Andy Sneap.

Slash has announced that Alter Bridge singer Myles Kennedy will front his band on the upcoming solo tour. Slash will release his first solo album in April via Roadrunner Records.

ELLEFSON RETURNS TO MEGADETH
Bassist David Ellefson has returned to Megadeth, after an absence of eight years. Ellefson replaces James Lomenzo, in time for the band's upcoming US tour, when they'll play the whole of the 1990 album 'Rust In Peace'.

NEW DEW-SCENTED ALBUM
German thrashers Dew-Scented are to release their new album 'Invocation' in May via Metal Blade Records.

THERION NAME ALBUM
Therion are to call their new album ‘Sitra Ahra’. The Swedish progressive metalheads will release this later in the year.

PRIEST RE-ISSUE STEEL
Judas Priest release a deluxe edition of their classic 1980 album 'British Steel' on May 10.This will come in two formats. A standard deluxe edition with a bonus DVD, filmed on August 17, 2009 at the Seminole Hard Rock Arena in Hollywood, Florida, when the band played the whole of the album. The limited edition deluxe edition will also have an extra live CD from that show.

ARMA GATHAS SIGN DEAL
Arma Gathas has signed a new deal with Metal Blade Records. The bands debut ‘Dead To This World’ will be released the 26th of April in the UK.

CATARACT TO ENTER STUDIO

German band The Ocean are to play Irish shows in the Spring. The dates are: Galway Roisin Dubh April 6, Cork Cyprus Avenue 7, Dublin Fibber Magees 9, Belfast Limelight 10. They'll be supported by Irish band Neifenbach.

M.ILL.ION IN THE STUDIO
M.ILL.ION the Swedish rockers are to start recording a new album next Month. The album will be released via Metal Heaven later in the year.

God Forbid have a new permanent guitarist. He's Matt Wicklund, previously with Himsa.

GUITARIST REJOINS SKULL

MAYHEM TOUR
Korn and Rob Zombie are to headline this Summer's Rock star Energy Drink Mayhem tour in America. Other bands on the bill are Lamb Of God and Five Finger Death Punch. The touring event will happen in July and August, and will also have comedians, dancers and motocross exhibitions.

FILMING LAMB
Lamb Of God intend to film shows this year around the world. This is for a future DVD.

SLAYER RESCHEDULE UK TOUR
Slayer have rescheduled their UK tour for a second time. The new dates are: Leeds O2 Academy May 26, Glasgow Barrowlands 27, Birmingham O2 Academy 29, Manchester O2 Academy 30, Nottingham Rock City 31, London HMV Forum June 2/3. The tour has been postponed twice before, because bassist/vocalist Tom Araya is suffering from back problems.

KING DVD
King Diamond will release a three-disc DVD set in late March. It's to be titled 'At The Graves'.

GODSMACK ALBUM
Godsmack will release their new album ‘Saints & Sinners' in the Spring. It was produced by Dave Fortman.

SOUNDGARDEN NEWS
Soundgarden have confirmed the line-up for their reunion. The band are Ben Shepherd (bass), Chris Cornell (vocals/guitar), Kim Thayil (guitar) and Matt Cameron (drums).

SOILWORK ALBUM
Soilwork are to title their new album 'The Panic Broadcast'. This is due out later in 2010 through Nuclear Blast.

AC/DC DOWNLOAD
AC/DC are one of the headliners at the Download Festival this year, although which night has yet to be announced. The event happens at Donington from June 11-13. Other bans confirmed are: Stone Temple Pilots, Wolfmother, Them Crooked Vultures, Motorhead, Megadeth, Bullet For My Valentine, Deftones and Volbeat. The capacity is to be increased for the festival Weekend tickets go on sale from 9am on January 29. They are priced at £145 Standard or family camping is £35 (five days) or £25 (three days). Campsite lockers cost £11, while advance parking is £15 (until May 31) or £20 (on the day).
