Verdict

Koh was formed in the Summer of 2003 when vocalist Peda Cetinjanin joined the trio of Bojan Petkovic (guitars), Stjepan Perkovic (bass) and Bojan Ulemek (drums). The next year KOH won the local band competition in Karlovac. Two years later, Dario Lonjak (keyboards, samples, effects) joined the band, which led to the fusion of modern rock metal and elements of industrial/electronic music in the songwriting process. In 2007, the band played several concerts, appearing on the biggest Croatian festivals such as Urban Fest Osijek, Croatian Music Festival, Istra Rock Festival, the famous Viva la Pola Festival and, among more than 100 bands KOH got to the finals of Art & Music Festival.

On with the review the first song “Use You” Starts off with a fantastic groove and drum beat then totally erupts into a glorious display of industrial laden riffs. So far after listening to this track the music reminds of a cross between Amplifier and Filter, in places vocals and guitars are distorted and the music also has a prog feel to it great stuff. Everything about this track is perfect swirling guitar screeches excellent beats and fantastic vocal range.
The next track “The Censor” starts off full speed ahead. When the vocals do kick in the singer does sound like Filter’s Robert Patrick which isn’t a bad thing indeed. Koh music has everything so far prog, industrial and a great stripped down rock feel. The track finally slows down providing some great slow melodic keyboard sounds. For a new band that hasn’t been around for that long they sound like they have been around for a few years quality stuff.
The next Track “Thoughtful Animal” starts off with an electronic feel then suddenly erupts with a great drum beat. Near the end of the track we are treated to an excellent guitar solo. So far so good the band know how to hit the right notes at the right time using their full potential to their advantage.
The last track on the EP “Korona” is an instrumental track and starts off with a futuristic Erie sound it sounds like the aliens have invaded earth I’m thinking anytime now Richard Burton will make a speech. The band display their prog approach on this track very experimental and this is a great track to end this EP.
Overall I couldn’t fault this EP for a band to produce quality like this should mean they will hopefully be around for a while yet highly recommended!!
