CHIMAIRA Resurrection
Tracklistings 1. Resurrection Listen Verdict After the success of Chimaira's last album things were going in the right direction not only Chimaira made a great but classic album they delivered in my opinion the best album of there career until all of a sudden they were dropped by roadrunner records and the band seem to drop into a very deep black hole things at this point were looking bad for the band. The first thing frontman Mark Hunter did was to stop feeling sorry and rally the band to produce the latest Chimaira Offering "Resurrection" shortly after deciding the band would carry on Chimaira were signed to Nuclear Blast things again were looking good again. So can this latest album get the band on the road again? On with the review. When first opening the cd case and inserting the cd into my player I was engulfed in a sound that Chimaira have put there mark on opening track "Resurrection" is a fast, thrash monster of a song letting out Chimaira's past 2 years of frustration with everything they have gone through with a blistering solo to boot. Next track "Pleasure To Pain" doesn't let up with the brutality. The next track "Worthless" is a mix of things aggressive vocals, crunching riffs and a very nice solo while the next track "Six" sees the band take a more imaginative direction you could say this track is Chimaira's Ballard track it breaks down with a superb Metallica style "Orion" this song takes the listener in different directions. One thing to add is compared to the last album this is more complex and more creative offering and the band are making a bold statement in the process. The only one major thing I would have to say is what is lacking in this offering is the lack of spine chilling solo's by lead guitarist Rob Arnold don't get me wrong there are some nice touches but compared to the last album it is slightly disappointing. Next Track "No Reason To Live" finds the song starting off in a slow mood until the corus comes into play with Mark Hunter bursting in uproar. If you are in a suicide mood don't listen to this track it will push you over the edge for sure. Next track "Killing The Beast" sounds a bit like Pantera's "My Demons Being Driven" brilliant and straight to the point. Most of the song's go on with familiar fashion. So to sum up this album this is a magnificent return to form for Chimaira who should cement there status as the heaviest and boldest metal band in the business to date for a band that were on the verge of splitting this is a lesson for us all when you have grit and determination you can achieve your goals in life no matter what the obstacle is. Chimaira are on a role and who will stop them?
Overall Mark 5/5
